Most of us are faced with the dilemma of having straight eyelashes that barely say hello. Well, fortunately, there is a way to accentuate the lashes and it’s easier than you think. Lash lifts have become incredibly popular in the beauty industry and they’re honestly game changing.

What is a lash lift?

A lash lift is a simple technique that lifts the lashes and curls them at the same time. Quite often this is described as more of a perm. The look acquired from a lash lift is very natural and doesn’t entail any added extensions.

How is a lash lift done?

This procedure is fairly simple and all it really requires is patience.

First, the lash technician will wipe off any makeup from the eye with a makeup wipe. Next, the area is toned to remove any access dirt and oil build-up. Once this is done the technician will grab a silicon mold and place it on the eyelid to begin the process.

Next, the eyelashes are gently lifted onto the silicon mold (which is slightly sticky) to help each hair stay in place. An adhesive is then placed directly on to the eyelashes and left on for 30-40 minutes. During this time the technician will keep checking the lashes to ensure that everything is in order. After the long wait, the adhesive is wiped off the eyes and a setting solution is placed over for a further 15 minutes.  Thereafter, the solution is wiped off and the eyelashes are tinted.

Optional tint

Most places offer to get the tint in for an additional price. Tinting the lashes is a great way to help create extra volume, especially if you have very light eyelashes. However, if you’re blessed with dark eyelashes than you can completely skip this step and save a couple of bucks.

Aftercare

Aftercare is rather simple and doesn’t require much effort. All you really need to do is avoid getting water around the area and avoid any eye makeup. Once the 24 hours have passed you can apply mascara and wash the area.

How long does a lash lift last?

Lash lifts last around 4-8 weeks. However, it should be noted that hot water and steam can drastically reduce how long it might last. So if you’re someone who loves steam rooms and hot showers, it might only last for a couple of weeks.

The downsides

As much as we tried to nit-pick this procedure it was really difficult to find any faults. The only downside we found was that those who have sensitive eyes might experience some tearing during the process. Now, this isn’t entirely a big deal because it only lasts for a short period of time and the results are well worth a few tears.

How much do they cost?

Typically speaking lifts cost more or less $70-$100 for the service. This all depends on where you go and what type of salon you choose to go to.

*An important thing to remember is to go to a professional who is experienced and reputable. Never choose to go to someone just because they’re cheaper. In the end, this might actually cost you more.

Is it worth it

Definitely! Our final verdict is that last lifts are well worth it, especially because they A. Don’t cost a fortune and B. Leave you with fuller looking lashes. Also, you don’t have to worry about applying mascara for a good few weeks, score!

If you’re uncertain about getting this done, then maybe try getting some natural looking fake eyelashes. This will give you an idea of what your lashes will look like.

What about lash extensions?

Lash extensions are not as favorable in the beauty community as lash lifts are. The main reason behind this is that many people have spoken out about losing a lot of extra lashes after getting extensions.  Lash extensions are actually known to leave you with brittle and shorter lashes in the long run.

Besides that, there’s also the issue of lash extensions costing roughly around $200, which is way more expensive than a lift.  In our opinion, stick to lifts- they’re way better, more affordable and also look more natural.
