This past weekend was rather glamorous as celebs gathered together for the 24th Screen Actors Guild (SAG) Awards in Los Angeles. Red lipsticks, luscious hair, and showstopper dressers made debuts at the event as the stars walked the red carpet for a night to remember.
Big Little Lies star, Nicole Kidman bagged the award for Outstanding Performance and we couldn’t be happier. The elegant actress wore a marvelous dark brown Armani Prive gown accompanied with a pair of Jimmy Choo sandals. Her signature hair was styled into a chignon bun and her makeup was a classic that worked for the entire look. Makeup artist, Molly Stern shared an Instagram post of Nicole while they prepped for the ceremony.
Speaking of beautiful Aussies, Margot Robbie also attended the SAG awards looking as vibrant as ever. Her movie, I, Tonya has been nominated for an Oscar and this particular star seems to have everything from her career to her fashion sense in order. Margot wore a head-turning dress by Mui Mui that was uniquely covered in ruffled feathers above the waist. Her makeup artist, Pati Dubroff selected soft pink hues for the star along with a nude lipstick and naturally wavy hair. We certainly loved this look because it was simply jaw-dropping.
Another charming actress who looked classy without a doubt was Madeline Brewer; the actress wore a gorgeous Reem Acra dress that stole the show. The pale pink dress had stitched pearls which complimented the stars fair skin and vibrant red hair beautifully. She opted for a rather simple hairdo and the entire look was perfectly put together.
Can we just take a moment to appreciate how amazing Orange is The New Black star Diane Guerrero looked! This outfit hit a total wow-factor and fans seemed to have loved the fairytale theme to the look. Designed by Christian Siriano, the two-piece outfit consisted of a puffy tulle skirt and a fitted long sleeve top. Both co-stars Diane and Jackie Cruz showed full support to pop star Rihanna’s as both of them wore the singer’s makeup brand, Fenty.
Lady Bird actress, Saoirse Ronon dominated the red carpet in a soft pink long sleeved Louis Vuitton gown. The dress boasted thigh-high slits on both sides along with silver embellished trimmings. A silk robe-belt emphasized Ronon’s silhouette and creating definition to the entire outfit.
Keeping things real sophisticated was Blackish star; Yara Shahidi. The teenage actress flaunted her custom-made Ralph Lauren jumpsuit on the red carpet which according to her Instagram post was a “dream come to life”. Diana Ross is a big inspiration to Shahidi’s which is where the curly hair inspiration came from. Makeup artist, Emily Cheng put the look together using a deep maroon Chanel lipstick.
And finally, ageless beauty Marisa Tomei honored and paid tribute the #MeToo women’s movement attended the SAG awards looking as youthful and radiant as ever. It’s no secret that Tomei has always been effortlessly beautiful and this past weekend proved no differently. The 53-year-old beauty wore her hair down in a brushed out wavy style while her makeup was porcelain perfect. Laura Basci designed the stunning dress.
The best thing about having an award show this early in the year is being able to view all the latest trends to look out for. Furthermore, this year’s SAG awards broke boundaries in terms of fashion, hair and makeup trends. We can expect a lot of soft pastels to make a comeback this year, along with different shades of pink. Fabrics to look out for are sequins and feathered fabrics, as we have seen a lot of stars adorn these materials. Dresses have also taken a turn and this year we will be seeing more modest, elegant and chic evening gowns.
With regards to hair and makeup trends, we can expect soft and natural looks. Chin length, textured bobs like Margot Robbies are predicted to be a hit in 2018. While wearing natural, wavy looking hair can help create definition and facial structure just as we’ve seen on Madeline Brewer. This year is going to be an exciting and efficient one filled with new fashion ideas across the globe!
